#24 Golf on the road

Travel cannot be meaningful for me without a round of golf thrown in once every few days. As a result, my golf bag gets into the car first on our road travels and onto the check-in scales for our air travels before any of the other bags!

It has been great fun playing golf on the road. I have played countless courses of varying pedigrees, from courses with manicured fairways and immaculate greens to those that just pass muster as a golf course. But as any true golf aficionado will attest, just being out on the course feels wonderful regardless of the course.

In addition, I have played with so many different people, from high schoolers and jocks who can drive 270 yards with ease to veterans and those whose best golf years may be behind them but their love for the game is not diminished one bit. But without exception, each has been wonderful company and one feels a certain kinship by the end that only the trials and tribulations of a round can elicit.

In addition to playing with family and old buddies, among the most fun was with the five musketeers I played with on multiple occasions at Memramcook GC (one of the advantages of staying at one place for a long stretch). They were very welcoming, witty (particularly with their French accents!), and took their game seriously just to the right extent.

Goes without saying!
